Rumour of Toshiba laptop with 10 minute charging

There is a rumour doing the rounds at the moment which says that Toshiba are going to release a new laptop that is not only the world’s lightest 13 inch laptop but that it can also be charged in only 10 minutes. Now that got my attention. Most of the information seems to have come from VozExpress originally, and here’s the gist of what’s being said. The Toshiba laptop will have a 13 inch screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9, comes with an optional 512 GB SSD and will be available in Core i3, i5 or i7 versions, has 4GB of memory, and you’ll also find a USB 3.0 dock as well as “blaze mountain” CPU cooling. All this is packed into a slim line form to weigh in at less than a kilo. However, the most exciting part is the super charged ion battery. Apparently the device comes with a standard battery along with a second SciB, which can apparently be charged to 90 percent in only 10 minutes. What this means is that those who are looking for a super portable lightweight computer needn’t go for a Netbook with a tiny screen but for the much more convenient 13 inch screen without compromising on the weight. Also, the reason we want ultra portables is so that we can carry them about with us but the downside to that is that the battery will all too often die on us if we want to spend the best part of a day away from home and we have to spend much too long attached to a plug to charge it up again. The difference between having a battery that takes hours to charge up so that you can have a few hours use in the wild, to a battery that can be charged in only ten minutes even if the time between charges is reduced, is phenomenal for those who spend a lot of time on the move. In fact it means we might just be able to work on our laptops all day.We haven’t come across any snippets of what this sort of laptop might cost but my main concern is whether or not this laptop actually manifests into a reality rather than remain a rumour and if so I for one would be more than a bit interested.
Check out the latest Green Laptop Charger from iGo :
We all have to charge up our laptops and other devices and in doing so we have to use power, however, as more and more of us become energy conscious, obviously the less power we use the better it is for the planet.Well for the greener minded amongst you, the latest laptop charger from iGo Green Technology will apparently automatically reduce wasted standby power by up to 85 percent over standard laptop chargers and you don’t even have to unplug it.

Here are the key features of the iGo green laptop charger:

• Guaranteed to safety and quickly charge your laptop automatically
• The automatic shut off means your laptop only uses as much power as needed to charge it an not one watt more
• The charger works anywhere in the world so you can take it everywhere you go – no need for a voltage converter
• It’s compatible with most laptops including those from Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Sony, as well as others.
• Included is an iGo USB charging cable 15” which plug directly into the USB port on the charger or on any other USB port to charge other mobile devices (the iGo device power tips are sold separately)
• Wall cable 6’
• You can use different power tips that will allow you to charge up all your devices including mobile phones, MP3 players, portable gaming devices, and others
• Charger comes with 2 years warranty from date of purchase with an additional year available if you register it
• The dimensions of the charger are 155.5 x 70 x 16.5 mm
• Input power is 100-240 VAC; 50/60 Hz
• Output is 90 W
• The charger comes with a travel case for easy portability when travelling
You know what it’s like; most of us just plug in our laptops for charging and then forget about them and in doing so we waste masses of energy once the laptop is fully charged but still attached to the socket. With this charger we don’t have to do anything to go greener other than use the thing. It uses precisely the right amount of power and then simply switches off. Even if our laptop is off but still attached to the socket it won’t use up extra power. Cool!If you fancy one of these then it’ll cost you $99 and you can order it directly from the iGo website.

Advantages of Toshiba laptop

Laptops are easy to carry and u can easily move form one place to other with laptop.
Portability:
Portability is usually the first feature mentioned in any comparison of laptops versus desktop personal computer there are many advantages of laptop you can on it where ever you need on need of electricity it can work with its battery for 3.hours you can carry it not only at home and at the office, but also during commuting and flights, in coffee shops, in class room, in lecture halls and libraries, at clients' location or at a meeting room, etc. This portability features offers several distinct advantages.
Productivity:
Using a laptop in places where a desktop personal computer can't be used, and at times that would otherwise be wasted. For example, an office worker manages their e-mails during an hour-long commute by train, or a student doing his/her homework at the university coffee shop during a break between lectures and during light fluctuation.
Immediacy :
Carrying a laptop means having instant access to various information, personal and work files.
Immediacy allows better collaboration between coworkers or students, as a laptop can be flipped open to present a problem or a solution anytime, anywhere if your sir assigned any job to you if you have laptop you can easily complete within minimum time with efficiency and effectiveness.
Up-to-date information:
If a person has more than one desktop personal computer, a problem of synchronization arises: changes made on one computer are not automatically propagated to the others. There are ways to resolve this problem, including physical transfer of updated files (using a USB flash memory stick or CDRs) or using synchronization software over the Internet. However, using a single laptop at both locations avoids the problem entirely, as the files exist in a single location and are always up-to-date.
Connectivity:
A proliferation of Wi-Fi wireless networks and cellular broadband data services (HSDPA, EVDO and others) combined with a near-ubiquitous support by laptops means that a laptop can have easy Internet and local network connectivity while remaining mobile. Wi-Fi networks and laptop programs are especially widespread at university campuses. You can connect with internet where ever you need of internet with the help of your mobile phone and other many devices like internet etc.
Other advantages of laptops include:
Size:
Laptops are smaller than standard PCs. This is beneficial when space is at a premium, for example in small apartments and student dorms. When not in use, a laptop can be closed and put away.
Ease of Access:
Most laptops have doors on the underside that allow the user to access the memory, hard drive and other components, by simply flipping the laptop to access the doors. For desktops the user must usually access the backside of the computer, which is harder if it's in an area with little space.
Low power consumption:
Laptops are several times more power-efficient than desktops. A typical laptop uses 20-90 W, compared to 100-800 W for desktops. This is good for big organization in which hundred and more laptop work dally 24 hours.
Quiet:
Laptops are often quieter than desktops, due both to the components (quieter, slower 2.5-inch hard drives) and to less heat production leading to use of fewer and slower cooling fans. Laptop quality of components ore more better then personal computer.
Battery:
A charged laptop can run several hours in case of a power outage and is not affected by short power interruptions and blackouts.
Extras:
In comparison to low-end desktops, even low-end laptops include features such as integrated Wi-Fi, and Express Card slot, and a memory card reader.lan, wan camera blue too

Technical Information and Feautres by Toshiba

Toshiba laptop the pair of ports E4h and E5h can be used to get and set many of the features of the laptop. For the most part thought it is better to use the System Configuration Interface and Hardware Configuration Interface where possible. The two ports work in a similar manner to the CMOS RAM ports 70h and 71h. First Toshiba write to port E4h which of the chipsets registers we wish to manipulate. Then Toshiba read or write as appropriate to port E5h to get or set the register. All the Toshiba code that manipulates these ports slows down the I/O with short jumps, however this does not appear to be necessary. It is however essential that interrupts are disabled while reading and writing to ports 0xE4 and 0xE5. Failure to do so could lead to a system crash if two or more programs attempt access to these ports at the same time. Toshiba laptops have a unique identification number held in the BIOS that can be used to identify the model on which a program is running. There are two different methods by which this number can be retrieved.

The first method
is the simplest and is the method reqired on all older models. For this method the identification number is stored in two bytes of the BIOS memory area.

The Second method
is for newer models (including all current ones) a different method is required. This method is called the SCT Table method by Toshiba. This method of retrieving the
machine identification number needs to be user when the original method returns a value of 0xFC2F.
